Helicopter Aerial Tanker Shoot

When GAC (the Gulf Agency Company) called about an inbound tanker, the assignment was clear: capture her arrival in the San Francisco Bay with the city’s iconic landmarks as the backdrop.

Port calls are unpredictable—ships can arrive at any hour, in any conditions—so flexibility is key. This time, we got lucky: a clear, calm morning and perfect light. From the moment Reliable Warrior began her approach to the Golden Gate Bridge, I was overhead, following her through the Gate, across the Bay, past Alcatraz, and all the way to Chevron’s Richmond Long Wharf.

Helicopter aerial work is specialized, but that’s the point: it allows me to deliver dramatic, high-quality images that would be impossible from shore, or for that matter, a drone. My job is to manage the logistics, deal with last-minute timing changes, and bring back the shots that owners and agents need—clean, sharp, and memorable.
